Innovative Learning Grants

MVLA Foundation Innovative Learning Grants create opportunities for students to increase their depth of knowledge and solve real world problems.

This project allowed students to experience culture, sights, and sounds of places in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain as though they actually traveled there.

Students also looked at microscopic organisms in the water and soil near their homes. The impact for this project has been tremendous as it has put the learning in the hands of students and has such a deep connection because they collected data about their own home and neighborhood environment.

A favorite guest speaker was a Dine (Navajo) photographer named Pamela Peters who has spent her entire career shedding light on the beautiful aspects of Navajo culture as well as the modern roles in which her community contributes including Hollywood movies, professional innovators and the interwoven relationship between tradition and breaking from it.
