Students are engaged! We have been germinating and potting up seedlings, constructing raised beds for the garden, and developing routines and skills with laboratory notebooks. What has impressed me most is the level of participation I've seen in students that have historically struggled in their previous science courses.

Students started at this lowest level (individual pieces), and gradually combined all their small segments of base pairs to form long stretches of DNA. Many of the students told me directly that this was one of the best labs they had done all year.
